The Fiji Rugby Football Union (FRFU) and Fiji Rugby Players Association (FRPA) are urging players and parents to seek advice before signing overseas contracts, scholarships or letters of intent. The organisations say proposed arrangements must be reviewed from a player welfare perspective, particularly provisions covering injury, payments, accommodation, insurance and termination. Players aged 19 and below who are approached by agents while at school should go through their Head of School, while agents must also be verified and approved by the FRFU. Adverse weather conditions and the state of the playing courts forced organisers to cancel the semi-finals and finals, bringing the three-day championship to a premature close. Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Association officials confirmed that the teams that progressed from the quarter-finals will share the championship honours, prize money and trophies in their respective grades. A 44-year-old man is expected to appear at the Suva Magistrates Court today after being charged in connection with the alleged possession of methamphetamine, attempted bribery and serious assault. The man was stopped and searched by police officers conducting patrols in Delainavesi on Wednesday, August 19. During the search, officers allegedly found a zip-lock plastic bag containing white crystals, which later tested positive for methamphetamine.
