Fiji’s National Referendum will be held on Wednesday, 9 December 2026, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced. The announcement follows President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu’s assent to the National Referendum Act 2026 on 2 October. The referendum will give eligible Fijians the opportunity to vote on the question or questions put before them. Rabuka has urged Fijians to seek information, ask questions and make informed decisions, while calling for discussions surrounding the referendum to remain peaceful and respectful. Qilai Road in Namosi will be temporarily closed on Sunday, 11 October, to allow for the replacement of a broken and dislocated culvert.
