The Suva Magistrate has allowed FICAC to amend the charge against former Deputy Prime Minister and National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad before his trial begins. The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation is calling for greater evidence and clarity behind proposed increases in penalties and stronger enforcement powers under Fiji’s new competition and consumer protection legislation. Fiji’s municipal councils are strengthening their preparedness for managing large volumes of waste following natural disasters through a workshop held in Nadi. The three-day workshop, conducted by JICA’s J-PRISM3 from July 21 to 23, focused on developing Disaster Waste Management (DWM) Contingency Plans for city and town councils across the country. Two people are facing charges following an investigation by the Fiji Police Anti-Scam Task Force into an alleged online investment scam. Police allege the pair received money on 20 November 2025 that was linked to an investment scheme promoted through a Facebook account called “Digital Lifestyle”. According to police, the victim came across an advertisement on the account offering a $250 return after an initial investment of $50. Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has defended the actions of a traffic officer after former minister Jone Usamate described the officer’s conduct as an “overreach” in a social media post. Commissioner Tudravu said the officer was carrying out his duties after identifying what he considered to be a traffic infringement and had acted accordingly.
