The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has cleared a wastewater blockage that caused an overflow along Matanikorovatu Road in Makoi. WAF’s operations team attended the site after the issue was reported and confirmed that the blockage was caused by clothing and other foreign objects illegally dumped into the wastewater network. Fifty-two people from government agencies, local communities and other stakeholder groups have strengthened their maritime skills after completing a five-day Class 6 Restricted Boat Master Training in Lautoka. The training, funded by the Mamanuca Marine Protection Rescue Initiative (MMPRI) and delivered by the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF), was held at the Lautoka Police Headquarters. The High Court has ordered the transfer of firearms and ammunition from the John Geoffery Nikolic criminal case to the Republic of Fiji Military Forces armoury for secure custody, as authorities continue investigating the disappearance of 12.9 kilograms of cocaine from the same case.
