A sick child from Moce Island in Lau was the focus of an emergency helicopter evacuation after a rapid response involving Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and several government agencies helped ensure the aircraft could continue its life-saving mission. Police have arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery in Cunningham on Friday morning. The incident, which was captured on CCTV, led investigators to identify and arrest the alleged main suspect before tracking down two others believed to have been involved. The Land Transport Authority is warning people applying for new taxi permits not to pay for taxi stand letters before official taxi stands are gazetted. The warning comes after reports that some prospective applicants have paid thousands of dollars to taxi stand operators for stand letters.
