The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has filed a civil forfeiture application seeking to have assets belonging to Imran Khan and Deborah Kim forfeited to the State. Earlier this year, the High Court granted the State’s application for a permanent restraining order over assets linked to Khan and Kim. The application was filed at the Suva High Court Civil Registry today, under sections 71F, 71G, 71K and 71M of the Proceeds of Crime Act. Fiji is stepping up efforts to make government services more accessible while strengthening cybersecurity and digital systems across the country. Minister for Policing and Communications, Ioane Naivalurua, told Parliament today that several initiatives are being advanced under the National Digital Strategy 2025–2030 and the National Cybersecurity and Resilience Strategy 2026–2031. A Whole-of-Government services mapping exercise has identified 788 services provided by ministries and agencies. The exercise is expected to help government review and redesign services to make them easier for people to access. The Fiji Meteorological Service says a Strong Wind Warning remains in place for several parts of the country as strong southeasterly winds continue across the Fiji group. The warning covers coastal areas from Sigatoka to Rakiraki and Udu Point, as well as the Yasawa and Kadavu groups and nearby islands. The Lau and Lomaiviti groups, southern Bua and Cakaudrove, and Cikobia, Taveuni and surrounding islands are also affected. Patients at St Giles Hospital are treated fairly and with care, Minister for Health Dr Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu says. The Minister made the statement following viral videos of an awareness session by a member of the Fiji Police Force, in which claims were made that food given to patients at St Giles Hospital was being thrown at them and that patients were being bathed using hose pipes. Dr Lalabalavu has dismissed the allegations as false, stressing that patients at St Giles Hospital are treated with dignity, fairness and great care. A 17-year-old juvenile will appear before the Suva Magistrates Court today over an alleged break-in at a temple along Howell Road. Samabula Police have charged the teenager with one count of sacrilege and one count of theft following investigations into the incident. Police say more than $900, believed to have been taken from the temple, has since been recovered. The accused is scheduled to appear in court today, Thursday, August 20, 2026.
