    World Malayalee Council Sydney Inc. Unveils New Leadership Team for 2025-2027: Championing Multiculturalism and Global

    Sydney, Australia – The World Malayalee Council (WMC) Sydney Inc. is delighted to announce the appointment of its new leadership team for the period 2025-2027, following a successful Annual General Meeting on April 13th, 2025.

    Empowering Multiculturalism and Inclusivity
    WMC Sydney Inc., registered in 2018, is a pioneering global Malayalee community organization based in Sydney, Australia. With a strong commitment to multiculturalism and inclusivity, WMC Sydney has been a driving force in fostering connections between the Malayalee diaspora in Australia and the motherland in Kerala, India.

    A Legacy of Impactful Initiatives
    Over the years the leadership team at World Malayalee Council (WMC) Sydney has achieved numerous milestones, including:
    – Organizing the global record-breaking 26-plus hours of “Global Onam Aaghosham” celebrations attended not only by Malayalees but also members of the multicultural Australian diaspora
    – Hosting the first-ever Kerala Traditional Boat Race (Vallamkali) on Sydney Harbour with participation from other communities
    – Pioneering inclusive multicultural Onam celebrations at the historic NSW Parliament House
    – Showcasing a vibrant Thiruvathira performance with over 100 ladies participating

    WMC Sydney New Leadership Team
    The new leadership team, comprising experienced and dedicated individuals, is poised to take WMC Sydney to new heights.

    The new World Malayalee Council (WMC) Sydney leadership include the following :

    Governance Leadership Roles:
    1) Chairman & Founding Member – Mr. Abbas Chelat
    2) Vice Chairman – Dr. Ambareesh Syamala Mohan
    3) Public Officer / Advisory Committee Chair – Mr. Irfan Malik

    Executive Leadership Roles:
    1. President- Mr. Babu Varghese
    2. Vice president – Mrs. Poornima Menon
    3. Secretary – Ms. Deepthi Raghavan
    4. Joint Secretary – Mr. Shiraz Vallappil
    5. Treasurer – Mr. Sajin Unni

    Executive Committee Board
    The Executive Committee Board, comprising of talented and passionate individuals, will work closely with the leadership team to drive WMC Sydney’s mission forward.

    The Executive Committee / board members include:
    1. Dr. Sujatha Manoj
    2. Ms. Rose Thomas
    3. Mr. Anas SR
    4. Mr. Rajan Thomas
    5. Mr. Moideen Habeeb

    Upcoming Events and Initiatives
    World Malayalee Council (WMC) Sydney looks forward to hosting a series of multicultural inclusive events and initiatives, celebrating the rich cultural diversity of Australia and India. These
    events will provide opportunities for global connections, mobility, professional pathways, business opportunities, sports, women entrepreneurship, and leveraging global diaspora networks.
