Fiji has launched a nationwide programme aimed at strengthening the fight against dengue fever and other vector-borne diseases through a new partnership between the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and GX Foundation. Sugarcane farmers will receive a guaranteed payment of $85 per tonne for the 2026 crop season, with Government stepping in to bridge the gap between the forecast cane price and rising production costs. The assurance comes after the Sugar Industry Tribunal announced a forecast cane price of $57.40 per tonne under the Master Award, based on prevailing world market prices for raw sugar.
