Cabinet has endorsed proposed reforms to Fiji’s national intelligence system aimed at strengthening the country’s ability to identify, assess and respond to emerging national security threats. The reforms will focus on improving coordination and information sharing among Government agencies, while establishing clearer roles, responsibilities and reporting mechanisms. As part of the initiative, Fiji will enter into a six-month partnership with the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service, funded by the New Zealand Government.
