Why should kids be vaccinated against COVID-19?

Although COVID-19 in children is often milder than in adults, some kids who get it can end up with severe lung infections, become very sick and need to be hospitalised.
Children who get COVID-19 can also get multisystem inflammatory syndrome, a condition that needs intensive care or long-lasting symptoms that affect their health and wellbeing. Getting your kids vaccinated will help protect those who could get very sick.
Reducing viral transmission by getting vaccinated also reduces the virus’ chance to mutate into new variants that might be even more dangerous, especially to kids. The virus can easily transmit between unvaccinated children and adults, giving new variants a chance to emerge.
Vaccinating your child will help reduce transmission of COVID-19 from one person to another, including family and friends.
