These special prayers can be said by anybody irrespective of his colour, creed, race or religion:-
PRAYER FOR HEALTH
(This prayer should be said daily for health. If possible it should be said at the bedside of the sick)
Om!, Bhur bhuvah swah, tatsavitur varenyam,
bhargo devasya dhīmahi,
dhiyo yo nah prachodayāt.
O God!, the Giver of life, Remover of pains and sorrows, Bestower of happiness and Creator of the Universe. You are the most luminous, pure and adorable. We meditate on You. May You inspire and guide our intellect in the right direction.
SHĀNTI PĀTH (PRAYER FOR PEACE)
Om dyauh shāntirantariksham shāntih prithivī shānti rāpah shāntih roshadhayah shāntih.
Vanaspatayah shāntir vishwedevāh shāntir brahma shantih. Sarvam shantih shantireva shantih sā mā shāntiredhi.
Om Sānti! Sāntih!! Sāntih!!!
O God! The peace which is in the luminous region, in the atmospharic region, in the earth, in the water, in the medicinal herbs, in the plants, in the learned persons, in the Vedas, in all other materials and is itself in peace, May the Almighty I receive such peace through Your Grace.
Note – at the end, we say “Peace” three times.
We pray for the appeasement of or keeping at bay these three (3) kinds of pains and sufferings:-
SPIRITUAL: these six (6) internal enemies bring about spiritual disorders – lust, anger, ego, greediness, attachments with material things and jealousy.
PROCEEDINS FROM DIVINE OR SUPERNATURAL AGENCIES –floods, hurricanes, etc.
PROCEEDING FROM OTHERS – thieves, snakes, etc.
