The University of the South Pacific’s School of Engineering and Physics has officially received a patent for their invention of a ‘Portable Wave-Solar Energy Harvesting Device’. The device is a simple self-contained system that can be deployed off-shore and useful in situations where there is no electricity supply within the coastal area.
It was invented by Lecturers Dr Rabiul Islam, Dr Kabir Mamun, and student Shaneel Prakash to present the concept of a low cost wave-solar generation for Pacific Island Countries.
