The City of Parramatta welcomes the NSW Government’s announcement that Westmead will get a new underground railway station as part of the Sydney Metro West project. “This is incredible news. The rapidly-growing Westmead precinct is an integral part of the City. It has a burgeoning professional population and a wealth of new, knowledge economy jobs,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson said.
“By 2036 our target is to deliver an additional 30,000 jobs at Westmead. A new underground railway station at Westmead will help transform our City, foster jobs growth, unlock investment, fight congestion and provide fast, reliable connections with other parts of Greater Sydney,” he said.
“Parramatta is Sydney’s Central City and it is essential transport infrastructure keeps pace with our expanding population and increasing commercial development and investment. “I commend the State Government for committing to the future of our great City. This will create a brighter future for the residents and workers of Westmead.” The new station was announced by the Premier Gladys Berejiklian and the Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance at Westmead today.
