The NSW Government today received the South Australian Royal Commission Report by Bret Walker SC into the effectiveness and operation of the Murray-Darling Basin system.
We will examine the report, fully consider the findings and issue an interim response tomorrow.
However, we can say upfront that the NSW Government will fight tooth and nail for our rural and regional communities. They need certainty. They need to know they have a future in the towns they love, communities they work in and the places they raise their families.
What they don’t need is hysteria, legal challenges or more politicking from NSW Labor and their South Australian counterparts or worse still, the inaccurate vitriol that comes from the likes of the Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young.
The gloves are off when it comes to fighting for our water rights.
