Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Fiji, Hon. Ratu Epeli Nailatikau hosted a visiting USA Congressional delegation in Nadi this evening.
These senators are namely Hon. Richard Shelby, (Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman), Hon. Michael Crapo (Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Chairman), Hon. John Boozman, (Chairman of the US Senate Appropriations Committee, Subcommittee on Military Construction), Hon. Deb Fischer (Senate Armed Services Committee) and Hon. John Kennedy (Senate Appropriations Committee).
“We thank you for advancing cooperation and forging partnerships to address the multifaceted challenges that confront the global community- this is appreciated and valued by us,” the Honourable Speaker noted.
The congressional delegation held a bilateral meeting with Fijian Government officials including Fijian Minister for Defense, National Security and Foreign Affairs Hon. Inia Seruiratu, and Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Major General (Ret’d) Ioane Naivalurua.
This is the first visit by an American Congressional delegation in seven years.
