Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama says nations around the world needs to mainstream climate considerations across its planning and decision-making processes.

Speaking at an Intervention at Ministerial Dialogue On Adaptation during COP25 in Madrid, PM Bainimarama says science is unequivocally clear and impacts of climate change are accelerating and intensifying more rapidly.

“To drive this crucial mainstreaming, Fiji was the first country in the world to embed the climate change division within our Ministry of Economy, engraining climate considerations across national planning. Fiji is also one of several countries to develop a National Adaptation Plan in line with the UNFCCC guidelines and we’ve leveraged technical support from our development partners to implement adaptation projects tailored to our unique vulnerabilities, whether it is building seawalls, relocating communities, planting mangroves or boosting our agro-resilience”
