Fiji has ambitious goals on renewable energy and its efforts to fight climate change. The Republic of Korea’s Ambassador to Fiji, Shinhee CHO echoed these sentiments during her courtesy visit to the Minister of Forestry Hon. Osea Naiqamu at his office in Suva yesterday.

“Fiji’s proactive effort and commitment to fight against climate change is heading in the right direction,” Ambassador CHO said.

She said the Korean Government also considers climate change and renewable energy as critically important developments and she believes there is a great potential to widen the cooperation in these areas between the two countries.

“It was a very fruitful meeting and it was also good to meet Minister Naiqamu in person especially when we are about to establish a platform for strengthened cooperation.”

Ambassador CHO hopes to have more meetings in the future which would result in more tangible outcomes. She said Fiji is a very dynamic country with noticeable progress and development.

Since her appointment to Fiji in January 2018, Ambassador CHO finds Fiji a very beautiful and peaceful country blessed with rich natural resources.

Minister Naiqamu said he looks forward to strengthening development cooperation with the Korean Forest Service.
