Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama today joined thousands of fans in welcoming the World Rugby 7s Series Champions – the Fiji 7s Team.
Hosted at the the chiefly village of Nawaka, the home of HSBC 7s Series Rookie of the Year Ratu Meli Derenalagi, people came from different walks of life to celebrate the achievement of the Paula Dranisinukula-led side.
Prime Minister also paid tribute to coach Gareth Baber and the players for their sacrifice.
The government gave $5, 000 each to the 14 players and the coach and $2, 500 each to the five officials.
The players also shared $100, 000 in bonuses from Fiji Rugby Union.
