‘Kiara Advani’ in an exclusive conversation with ‘Divya Solgama’ (Source – Bollywood Times)
Kiara, kindly walk us through your role in the film ‘Machine’?
Kiara Advani – I play Sarah in the film. She is a powerful girl externally and internally she is completely romantic. It’s like a powerful girl with a romantic heart. You will see me doing some daring stunts in the movie. This role is physically challenging. I cannot say anything more as it will reveal the basic details.
Kiara, are you an Abaas Mustan fan? If yes then what are your childhood memories attached to their films?
Kiara Advani – I have grown up on Abaas Mustan films. Right from ‘Bazigar’, ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’, ‘Soilder’, ‘Ajnabee’, ‘Aitraaz’ and many other films. I just love ‘Bazigar’ and ‘Race’ and love the way they present the entire film, it’s like an experiment. These movie are fantastic and I love them. One of these movies keep playing on television and we keep watching them. These films get highest viewing on TV and are liked by the family audience. These movies are so entertaining that it’s an experience watching them. Also, what I like among all these films is they present their heroines so beautifully and also give them meaty roles. These characters are at par with the male characters in the film. As a child I always wanted to become an actress and I grew up being Hindi film heroine and working in an Abaas Mustan film is like a dream come true.
Kiara, you are the only known face in the film? Does that add pressure to you?
Kiara Advani – I am sure there will be some sort of expectations and I hope to deliver to that. Also, my directors (Abbas Mustan) keep saying that a film is not made by any particular person, it’s made by the entire cast and crew attached to the film. Even I believe in that and feel that and thus don’t singularly feel the pressure. I know it’s an Abbas Mustan film and they have their own audience and I am just a small part of the film.
Kiara, any special memories attached to ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast’ song from your childhood memories?
Kiara Advani – When we were shooting for ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast’, I couldn’t believe that it’s the same song for which as a child I used to dance in front of the mirror and today I am lucky enough to be part of it. I used to wear chaniya choli and keep dancing in front of the mirror, coping whatever steps which are happening, whenever this iconic song used to be played. I also liked the fact that original singer Udit Narayan is retained for this song. It’s not a copy but like a tribute to the classic song. We knew that we cannot recreate new version of this song and thus made it in our way which is like 2017 version of the iconic song. I feel I am very lucky to be part of this song.
Kiara, what are your forthcoming films?
Kiara Advani – Nothing is locked yet. I am reading scripts and don’t have any fixation towards any genre. I am open to all the scripts which are coming to me. I would love to do comedy, romance and action I am not stuck on any genre. There are some films which are very exciting and would share as it’s finalized.
