FIJI AND SPAIN TO DEEPEN ECONOMIC, DIPLOMATIC TIES

Fiji and Spain have discussed new opportunities for trade and bilateral cooperation at a meeting today between the Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, and the New Non-Resident Ambassador of Spain to Fiji, H.E. Manuel Pradas Romaní.

The two men held fruitful talks that covered Spain’s interest in expanding diplomatic efforts in the region, along with areas of mutual collaboration between Fiji and Spain on the global stage.fiji-spain“As Spain seeks to grow its presence in the Pacific, Fiji looks forward to deepening the ties between our Governments and finding ways to speak with a unified voice in addressing global challenges. The Spanish Government shares many of our concerns, such as the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by pursuing renewable energy options, and Fiji is keen to partner with Spain in advancing these priorities,” he said.

Ambassador Romaní presented his credentials to the President H.E. Jioji Konrote earlier in the day.
