Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Sarah Mitchell today welcomed the appointment of Ms Nicole Courtman as Registrar of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983. Ms Courtman’s appointment will begin on 3 April 2017 for a period of three years.
“Ms Courtman brings to the Registrar a wealth of experience on a range of Aboriginal and land right issues,” Mrs Mitchell said. “I congratulate Ms Courtman on her appointment and take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Registrar, Mr Stephen Wright.”

Nicole Courtman has qualifications in law, commerce and property economics and has over 15 years experience in providing legal and governance advice to range of organisations. Nicole was formerly the CEO of Indigenous Corporate Partners where she provided governance and management advice to a range of Indigenous organisations including land councils, health and housing organisations and native title bodies. Nicole has also worked in-house for a number of Aboriginal organisations, including as the Director of Corporate Governance at the NSW Aboriginal Land Council.
