NSW has recorded the lowest unemployment rate in the nation for 18 consecutive months and has widened its lead over the next strongest state, the latest ABS data shows
Today’s official data shows NSW’s unemployment rate at 4.9 per cent – the lowest in Australia and 1.1 percentage points below the next strongest state.
“Our unemployment rate is by far the lowest in the nation and demonstrates our economic strength,” Treasurer Gladys Berejiklian said. Since the NSW Liberals & Nationals came to office in 2011, more than 320,000 jobs have been created in NSW.
“We are investing record billions into infrastructure across NSW which is supporting jobs growth and business investment,” Ms Berejiklian said. “The NSW Government has had a strong record of reducing back office waste while boosting services and increasing the number of frontline nurses, police and teachers.”
