For the first time, 48 educational institutions and universities from India led by Indian Chamber of Commerce, with the support of the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India participated at the “Western Sydney Careers Expo 2017”.
The Western Sydney Careers Expo is one of the major exhibitions in education sector of Australia and it is now in its 7th year. The Western Sydney Careers Expo 2016 attracted over 22,000 visitors and 150 exhibitors and the 2017 edition of the event is being organised at Sydney Showground in Sydney Olympic Park from 22-25 June 2017. A Seminar on India-Australia: Collaboration in Education Sector is being held at 10.30 am on 25 June 2017at the Sydney Olympic Park.
Consul General Mr B Vanlalvawna inaugurated the ‘India Pavilion’ at the Expo today and met the institutions/universities at their respective stalls to discuss the possible ways of collaboration with their Australian counterparts and how the Consulate could assist them in their endeavour.
The expo is a platform for Indian Educational Institutes to showcase the strengths of the Indian Education System and introducing individual institutions to an eager and growing market for collaboration opportunities.
The Careers Expo is expected to be a strong and cost effective marketing platform for the Universities, Colleges, Schools and Education Institutions to reach out very cost effectively to a larger number of foreign & NRI parents and students who are interested in pursuing education in India. Besides, this fair will also create opportunities for Indian Educational Institutes to form business partnerships with Australian schools/colleges/Universities with a common goal to bring the highest standards in education system of India.
India holds an important place in the global education industry. The country has more than 1.4 million schools with over 227 million students enrolled and more than 36,000 higher education institutes. India has one of the largest higher education systems in the world. However, there is still a lot of potential for further development in the education system. India has become the second largest market for e-learning after the US. The sector is expected to touch US$ 4 billion in 2017.
