After the massive success of ‘Baahubali’, Tamannaah Bhatia is back with her latest film ‘Tutak Tutak Tutiya’. Our Bollywood guide ‘G9 Divya Solgama’ catches up with her.
Tamannaah, ‘Baahubali’ manage to make your right mark in Hindi cinema. While shooting for the film, did you expect it to be such a humongous hit?
Tamannaah Bhatia –I am just very happy that ‘Baahubali’ happened to me, primarily because it also projected me as an actor. It opened my horizons from the perspective that people started looking at me, where I can portray different characters. ‘Baahubali’ was in a fantasy space and it’s difficult to attempt for anybody. It’s also the great commercial success which eventually helped me a lot. I am very thankful and lucky to be part of ‘Baahubali’. But this is just a beginning as I have lots more to achieve and lot more movies to do. I knew we were doing something different, but the way people reacted to it was something I never expected.
Tamannaah, after the massive success of ‘Baahubali’ there mustve been many offers for you to do big film. So what made you reject all those films and agree to a relatively smaller film ‘TutakTutakTutiya’?
Tamannaah Bhatia –I feel today content is the king. More than a big film or a small film, it’s important to have a good content in your film. In today’s time we have witnessed many small films which are highly appreciated and are also commercially successful. All this is possible only due to good content as people want to watch good cinema. So for me ‘TutakTutakTutiya’ was something different than the kind of work I had done in the past. Also, after ‘Baahubali’ I had taken a decision that I want to do films where I get to perform and display my potential as an actor. But at the same time I see to that these films are entertaining as I can never watch films which make me sad. When I am a part of a film I don’t want audience to hold their head and get bored in the film. I just want my audience to get entertained with good content and that what you will find in ‘TutakTutakTutiya’.
Tamannaah, ‘Tutak Tutak Tutiya’ is a horror comedy. Do you feel this genre has never been properly utilized in our Hindi cinema?
Tamannaah Bhatia –I wouldn’t term ‘TutakTutakTutiya’ as a horror comedy, for me it’s a comedy which is thrilling. Horror is kind of misconceived in our country, so it’s very difficult for someone to understand the term horror-comedy. It’s not the regular kind of film you see, but what I like about it is that even though it’s brand new in terms of its idea, still it’s formatted to entertain.
Tamannaah, kindly share with us the working experience with ‘Prabhudeva’?
Tamannaah Bhatia –I have idolized Prabhu sir. I dint exactly know what to expect when I came on set, but what I actually met is a simple person who is multi-talented. He is kind hearted and a complete director’s actor. I was surprised to see him doing what the director says despite of being a director he always went ahead with the director’s call. There were times when I used to argue over some scene or do the scenes in my own way, but Prabhu sir would always do what he was asked to do. That is very inspiring and made me respect him a lot more.
Tamannaah, in your personal life, what the factors which scares you the most?
Tamannaah Bhatia –I am scared for personal reasons. My family is very close to me so I want everything good to happen to them. That definitely is a scary thought as I always want them to be happy and healthy. I love my job as an actor, but it does not scare me thinking about the longevity of an actress. Yes, I agree that sometimes life is relatively shorter than what we would like it to be. But I am happy that times are changing and actors will also have a longer career life. But I do have one fear that after acting what will I do as I have been acting for so long. So that’s probably one of the prime fear along with the safety of my family. These thoughts scare me a lot.
Lastly, which are the actors who inspires you the most and kindly share with us your wish list of actors with whom you would love to work in near future?
Tamannaah Bhatia –I would love to work with Ranveer Singh as the short experience at the time of doing the ‘RanveerChing’ ad was amazing. VarunDhawan was my senior in school and at that time I never imagined that there could be a probability of us acting together. But not it feels like a good idea. Also, I am a huge fan of Ranbir Kapoor and would love to work with him in a film. Personally, I adore Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi and they have inspired me to become an actress.
