The Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete has advised final year medical students at the Fiji National University to optimize their skills as they continue to pursue their career in the medical profession.
He particularly emphasized the importance of Primary Health Care and the innovative ideas to be implemented to reach out to every citizen of the country in terms of health services provision.
“There is a lot of work to be done towards primary health care as we look forward to Universal Health Coverage therefore I urge you to work extremely hard and pass your exams”, Dr Waqainabete said.
Fiji has been championing the roadmap to Universal Health Coverage which is also the theme of the World Health Assembly this year, receiving enormous support from participating nations which reflects the positive approach that is undertaken to reach out to people.
This will allow people to access quality health services without the heavy financial burden. Dr Waqainabete spoke to the students while they were attending the two day course in Primary Trauma Patients Care.
