Parramatta residents have the opportunity to provide feedback on the direction City of Parramatta Council will take over the next year with the Draft Operational Plan and Budget for 2019-2020.
The Draft Operational Plan and Budget is a key component of the Delivery Program 2018-2021, a business plan that outlines how Council will deliver its core services, activities, programs, projects, fee and charges over a three-year period.
As part of the Program, the annual Operational Plan and Budget is reviewed each year to ensure Council’s activities are in line and on budget with its priority goals.
“These documents are instrumental in the planning of the City as it continues to grow and develop over the coming years. With the population of Parramatta expected to reach nearly 400,000 by 2038, it’s essential that we are prepared for the impacts and opportunities this significant growth will bring,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson said.
“The Draft Operational Plan and Budget for 2019-2020 focuses on the provision of local infrastructure, Council’s financial sustainability and major activities and development occurring in the Parramatta CBD. These are key factors that we, as a Council, need to consider to ensure we continue to meet the community’s needs and expectations well into the future.”
For the next financial year, Council has outlined $458 million in operating and capital expenditure in areas such as: major works and construction; parks, recreation and culture; roads maintenance, footpaths and drainage; library services; social and community services; engineering and traffic improvements; waste management and environmental sustainability projects.
The Draft Operational Plan and Budget for 2019-2020 also provides the community with information on proposed rates, fees and charges for the financial year.
