Fans of the Pacific nations can get ready for another exciting day of sporting events at Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games tomorrow.
The rugby sevens tournament continues at Robina Stadium, with the men’s preliminary matches beginning. Teams from Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Samoa will all be competing tomorrow, as well as the Fijian women’s team who will be playing their final preliminary game against Australia. It’s going to be a huge day for the players, with some tough matches against strong teams including Australia, Sri Lanka, Scotland and South Africa.
In boxing, Pacific nations will be keeping their fingers crossed for Fijian Winston Hill and Samoan Ato Plodzicki-Faoagali who were taking part in today’s semifinals. If they win their bouts today, they will qualify to compete in the gold-medal finals tomorrow!
The wrestling finals also continue tomorrow and only one Pacific athlete will be competing. Kiribati’s Taebontangaroa Kookoo will take on India in the men’s freestyle 86kg 1/8 final at Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre.
