Fiji’s Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama has told the United Nations General Assembly that his country is re-evaluating its foreign relations. Mr Bainimarama said Fiji planned to align itself more closely with those countries that shared Fiji’s values and principles. He said this change of direction would not be sudden. Mr Bainimarama, who took over the foreign affairs portfolio less than two weeks ago, said Fiji was certainly not in the business of making enemies.
pm”This includes above all adherence to international law and adherence to human rights and human dignity,” he said. Frank Bainimarama also said this meant pursuing a policy of resolving disputes by peaceful means and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.
