Establishment of ICCR Chair

    Consul General Shri B. Vanlalvawna, on behalf of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Wollongong (UoW), New South Wales for the establishment of ICCR Chair of Indian Studies. Prof. Alex Frino, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Strategy) signed the MoU on behalf of UoW in a ceremony hosted at the University’s Sydney Business School Campus.

    The MoU envisages hosting short term, one semester, ICCR Chair every academic year till the year 2022, starting from Autumn Session of the academic year 2018. The Chair will conduct lectures, seminars and workshops on various, mutually agreed upon, subjects related to different aspects of India like an economy, polity, art and culture.

    The MoU is a firm step towards practical cooperation to solidify existing relations between UoW and India. The UoW has traditionally been hosting international students from India. As per UoW, at present more than 1100 students from India are enrolled in various courses.
