Team India make their statement in the world cup by beating the defending champions by 36 runs.
India batted first and scored 352 in their innings with the help of the superb knock from the southpaw, Shikhar Dhawan, scored 117 with 16 boundaries. Sharma and Dhawan’s had an opening partnership of 122 in 22 overs which set up the platform for other batsmen to score. Kohli was the second highest scorer who scored 82 runs, while Pandya, Dhoni and Rahul together scored 88 runs in just 44 balls.
In bowling, India’s pace bowling duo, Bhuvneshwar and Bumbrah bowled very well and did not allow players, likes of Warner and Finch to score with the run rate they would like to score. Both of them took 3 wickets each.
Aussies needed 117 runs in last 11 overs and with 7 wickets in hand anything could be possible but Bhuvneshwar grabs wickets of Smith and Stoinis in just 3 balls and almost secured a victory for India.
India will play their next match against New Zealand on 13th while, Aussies will play against Pakistan on 12th of the June.
