Crown Group, the award-winning developer of distinctive residential and commercial properties across Australia, has become the title sponsor of the Australian Badminton Open in 2019 and is ready to welcome the stars of international badminton top competitors arriving on Sydney’s shores soon.

The 2019 Crown Group Australian Badminton Open will be held at Quaycentre Sydney Olympic Park from 4 to 9 June and will be broadcasted to more than 150 million homes globally.

Badminton Australia Board Member and Tournament Director, Loke Poh Wong were quick to point out the superstars ahead of 2019 Crown Group Australian Badminton Open commencing.

We are looking forward to welcoming reigning men’s doubles All England champions and twice former World Champs Hendra Setiawan / Mohammad Ahsan from Indonesia; former Australian Superseries winners Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong from Korea, and from China, former Olympic champions Lin Dan, Li Xuerui, and Zhang Nan and current All England champions Chen Yufei and Jia Yifan / Chen Qingchen.”


Launched in 2012 the Australian Badminton Open was upgraded to a Superseries level event in 2014 forming part of the BWF’s international 12-leg Superseries, and is hosted annually in Sydney by Badminton Australia, together with strategy partner Destination NSW. From 2018 to 2021, it will be part of the BWF’s World Tour series. Each year Crown Group Australian Badminton Open attracts premier players from more than 20 countries.

Crown Group has sponsored the event since its early years, before it became a marquee feature of the Superseries program. Crown Group CEO and co-founder Paul Sathio is known for his own keen interest in the sport.
