Top Ten of the cricket playing nations is fighting for the Cup. England and Wales are hosting the six-week tournament, which began with England’s victory over South Africa on May 30 and ending with the final at Lord’s on July 14.

For the First time since, the 1992 World Cup, each team will play each other once in a “round robin” format. It is quite obvious that only the top 4 of the best performing teams will secure their spot at the semi-final stages. England will start the tournament as the “ Favourites”, while India, Australia, Pakistan and South Africa are among the strongest contenders for the semi-finals.

West Indies has players, the likes of Chris Gayle, Andre Russells and other T20 stars who can change the match result on their day. New Zealand knows how to play as a team, they prepare very well and execute their plans equally well, especially in the major tournaments. The Kiwis have played semi-finals in the ICC tournaments 7 times so far.

Even though Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are capable of beating any of the top teams on their day, not many cricketing experts are convinced that they can make it to the semi-finals.

On paper, the Australian team is probably the second strongest team to England. Traditionally they handle the pressure better than many other teams, which can play a big part in the World Cup. The Aussie’s are terrific fast-bowling units which will be supported by their spinners. Any of the top 6 Aussie batters are capable to score big hundreds. In bowling and without any doubts they are one the favourites to win the world cup.

The Indian cricket team has performed very well over the last 18 months under Virat Kohli’s captainship. They have strong batting line up, bowlers are well experienced and disciplined, good fielding side and good support staff. The strong crowd support and a fan base like “BHARAT ARMY” will be the big difference between India and the rest of the nine nations.
