CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON MAJOR UPGRADE TO PRESTONS PUBLIC SCHOOL

Hundreds of Prestons families will benefit from the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government’s record investment in education, with the $10 million major upgrade to Prestons Public School now underway.

Education Minister Rob Stokes and Member for Holsworthy Melanie Gibbons explained that the school’s upgrade will deliver 10 new air conditioned classrooms, a hall, a library and administration facilities.

Ms Gibbons said she was thrilled the upgrade was being delivered for the wonderful students, teachers and families of the school.

“This is great news for local families. We are ensuring that we have the top-quality school facilities our students need now and into the future,” Ms Gibbons said.

“Only the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government can be trusted to deliver this important project to make sure our children have the best possible start to life.”

Mr Stokes said the project is another example of the NSW Government delivering the school resources local students and their families deserve.

“We want our children to have the best opportunities and providing high-quality school facilities is essential,” Mr Stokes said.

The major upgrade to Prestons Public School is being carried out as part of the NSW Government’s record $6 billion school building program to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools.

Mr Stokes said the Liberal & National Government’s record investment in schools was in stark contrast to Labor’s.

“The last time Labor was in power, they shut down 90 schools, resulting in a loss of more than 500 classrooms and 2000 student places.”

In addition to the record-breaking school building program, the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government has committed an unprecedented investment to eliminate the school maintenance backlog so that every public school in the State provides the world-class facilities that our students and teachers deserve.
