Minister for Multiculturalism, Ray Williams, today launched the new Multicultural NSW Celebrating Diversity Grants Program, which will provide more than $800,000 to support multicultural festivals, events and community projects across NSW.
Mr Williams said the NSW Government is investing in multicultural communities across NSW to ensure cultural diversity continues to be one of the State’s greatest strengths.
“An additional $290,000 has been committed to the new grants program to support multicultural communities,” Mr Williams said. “In response to community feedback, we have also consolidated and simplified our multicultural grants program.
“Last financial year, we supported more than 160 unique multicultural festivals, projects and events across NSW and we look forward to supporting more.” The first round of Celebrating Diversity Event Grants are now open and applicants can apply for up to $10,000 for events and festivals which showcase our cultural diversity.
“One of the best ways to connect with different cultures and traditions is to get involved in the many festivals and events held across NSW every week,” Mr Williams said.
“I particularly encourage new and emerging communities and regional organisations to apply for our grants.” Multicultural NSW event grants have previously supported community Harmony Day celebrations, art, music and film festivals, and sporting events.
Celebrating Diversity Event Grants will close 5pm Friday, 28 September 2018.
