AWOTM’s purpose is to ensure that Women and young girls from the Afghan diaspora living in Australia are safe, enjoy healthy relationships and have every opportunity to succeed in Australia.
AWOTM’s was established in 2018 and the first major project we took part was the launch of Daneha Exhibition https://blacktownarts.com.au/daneha/ to address the complex relational and multifaceted nature of issues facing Afghan women in their settlement in Australia.
Afghan Women on the Move is a non-for profit organization located in Sydney, and we are hosting a first nationwide Gala Night dinner which features an exceptional line up of public figures and panel discussion, followed by Afghan traditional performance and Afghan cuisines. The topic is Issues Affecting Afghan Australians Women and Creating Solutions, with subtopics:
• Women Empowerment
• Women in Workforce
• Settlement and Integration
At the same time, AWOTM will use the knowledge gained through its work to explore major contemporary & future challenges and see what further contributions we, as Community Leaders, can make to systemic causes of inequality, fairness and employment in a manner that’s encourages privacy, trust and empowerment.
