A GLORIOUS SUMMER AHEAD FOR WOMEN’S INTERNATIONAL CRICKET

The International summer of cricket kicks off this weekend with the Australian Women’s Cricket Team playing three T20 Internationals against Sri Lanka at North Sydney Oval from Sunday 29 September 2019.

There is no better way to start the school holidays by watching the all-conquering Australian women in the first match of the Commonwealth Bank T20 International Series against the might of Sri Lanka.

The series will give fans the opportunity to see the reigning T20 World Cup champions in action as they continue preparations for their title defence on home soil starting in February 2020 when the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Australia 2020 commences. Sri Lanka are featured in group A alongside the Aussies for the tournament. North Sydney Oval will come alive on from 2:30pm on 29 September and everyone is invited!

With family friendly food trucks and Cricket Australia’s colour crew on hand to paint your face with your favourite team colours, there’s something for everyone.

The glorious summer continues

Following the three T20 Internationals in Sydney, Australia will play a further three one-day international matches in Brisbane against Sri Lanka, before the commencement of the standalone Rebel Women’s Big Bash League on 18 October 2019.
The Women’s International action gets back underway in February with a Commonwealth Bank T20 Tri-Series between Australia, India and England taking place in Canberra and Melbourne allowing the three teams to fine-tune their preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Australia 2020.

The Women’s International Series has launched among women influencers from the South Asian communities mainly from the Indian and Sri Lankan communities over morning tea. Phil Smith of Cricket Australia, MultiConnexions CEO, Sheba Nandkeolyar and guest of honour, Mrs. Neemisha Gupta shared their thoughts and support for women’s cricket. Young Australian Cricketer Jason Sangha attended the event and invited everyone to get engaged and enjoy the women’s cricket season with their family and friends.

A great Q&A session by SBS Executive Producer Hindi Ms Kumud Merani provided interesting insights on women’s cricket shared by Jason Sangha and Devna Luthra at the launch.
