USP receives patent for Wave Solar Energy Harvesting Device

The University of the South Pacific’s School of Engineering and Physics has officially received a patent for their invention of a ‘Portable Wave-Solar Energy Harvesting Device’. The device is a simple self-contained system that can be deployed off-shore and useful in situations where there is no electricity supply within the coastal area.

fiji-uspIt was invented by Lecturers Dr Rabiul Islam, Dr Kabir Mamun, and student Shaneel Prakash to present the concept of a low cost wave-solar generation for Pacific Island Countries.
