I am pleased to send my warmest greetings to everyone celebrating Harmony Day across Australia and New South Wales (NSW)on March 21 this year.
Coinciding with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Harmony Day is a chance for people to share their cultures, experiences and languages.
The central message of “everyone belongs” is relevant to Australians of all backgrounds, whether our ancestors arrived on the First Fleet or fled to seek shelter here as the result of more recent wars and conflicts.
As Minister for Multiculturalism, I am proud of our state’s diversity of cultures, languages and religions, which are protected by law. I hope many of you celebrate Harmony Day and reflect on its central message of respect and understanding.
