Government looks for alternative sites to construct an international airport in North

The government is looking for alternative sites to construct an international airport in the Northern Division. This has been highlighted by the Acting Prime Minister, Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum during the 2017/2018 budget consultation in Labasa.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the site may not be Seaqaqa. He says they are looking at a big piece of land as they have to think 50 years down the track. The President for the Labasa Chamber of Commerce Satish Kumar says that the lights at the Waiqele runaway can be fixed so that flights can land at night.
